About the Author

Donna Trappey

Donnie, as she is lovingly known by her grandchildren, is a retired speech pathologist with decades of experience working in both public and private school systems. Her professional career was devoted to supporting students with special needs, and she spent many years advocating for inclusive education and helping children find their voices—both literally and figuratively.

In addition to her work in special education, Donnie is a proud mother to seven children and their amazing spouses, and a grandmother to 22… at last count. Some are biological, some adopted—each one deeply cherished and wonderfully unique.

She lives in New Iberia, Louisiana, with her husband, George. Of all the roles she’s held, she believes the greatest gift in her life has been her family.
